Advice on new airport terminal

I have travelled in and out of Beijing several times and I thought I would share my experience at the new terminal.

Arriving at terminal 3 is rather simple. The big change is that you now need to board a tram to get to immigration and retrieve your luggage. It makes the journey a little longer. While we are on the subject of passport control, one small piece of advice. The lines can be long. The trick is to get in the first (or last) line, whichever is closest to the lines reserved for Chinese nationals. As the lines for Chinese nationals are usually nearly empty, the secutities agent will often move people to those booths. So if you are closer you can get through pretty quickly.

Departing Beijing was not so simple. When leaving the hotel, the doorman asked me which terminal. I had no idea so I just said ';domestic flight, as I usually do. I assume he repeated that in Chinese to the driver but it did not matter as it is not how the terminals are organized. The terminal depends on which airline you fly. The taxi dropped me off at the new terminal 3 but once I got in, I quickly realized I was in the wrong place. The information desk lady instructed me that my flight was in terminal one. To get there I had to take the elevator down a couple of floors, take the bus to terminal 2 and walk to terminal 1. Thank god I was early as this whole process took 30 to 45 minutes. The bus ride was so long I thought I had boarded the wrong bus and was going downtown!!! So find out which terminal you are flying from. Generally the tickets don%26#39;t mention the terminal, so you can check on http://en.bcia.com.cn/

Thank you very much JPDeM.

If anyone else has any advise on Terminal 3 (or the Airport in general) I%26#39;d like to hear it.

Sorry

I should have written ';advice'; not ';advise';

Thanks JPDeM,

As reported on beijing local newpaper, there are around 1,000 passengers who lost there way in the new terminal 3.

So you give us very useful information.

So the passenger must be very clear which terminal they should go, otherwise they would have the same experience as you have.

Some people said that if there are always so many people lost their way, something must be done to solve the problem.

They have not done anything, but you have made your contribution.
