Re Shangzen weekend market

Thankyou to those who replied re the bus from the airport to North Point - it was brilliant to get a reply and have decided on the A11 bus - (we had no idea the bus stop was outside our accomm - fantastic - we actually booked the Ibis because we had to have 3 rooms!!!! and having stayed in Ibis in other countries we new this would be a safe bet and save on the pennies - am I right also in thinking the ferry terminal to Kowloon is near to?)

Anyhow please could someone advise us on the shopping we have heard about in Shangzen

How long will it take apx to get there?

Is it good shopping?

How long will we need to get around?

What shops are there?

We understand that we will need to get a visa to cross over into China - is this complicated

and finally what is the best mode of transport to get there?

My sister in law and son are shopaholics but we do have a 7 year old with us who most definately isn%26#39;t!

Re Shangzen weekend market

there are now new rules regarding visa. so better get one in uk before coming here.

Re Shangzen weekend market

Assuming you mean Shenzhen, I don%26#39;t know what weekend market you are talking about - Shenzhen is open 7 days a week and best avoided in the weekends, The two main shopping arras are LuoHu Commercial Centre - 5 floors of cheap (mostly ';fake';) goods, fabrics and tailors right at the Hong Kong (LoWu) border and the town centre of Dongmen, about 2 subway stops from the border. Dongmen has several large shopping centres and lots of alleys with small boutique-type shops.

There is a small ';culture park'; where you can sit %26amp; relax %26amp; ';people-watch'; or one of you could take the 7 y-o to Windows on the World amusement park (at the end of the Metro line) instead.

I can highly recommend Windows of the World and China Splendid we had a full day here and really enjoyed it. Windows of the world is models of famour world sites and China Splendid is China through the ages with lots of different shows scheduled throughout the day.

Shopping at Shenzen is OK but can get a little tiresome after a while.

As 5678 said check out your visa before going though as rules have recently changed
