Shanghai in May - wearing appropriately??

Hi All,

I%26#39;ll be going to Shanghai end of may. I heard the weather is similar to SG, probably slightly cooler.

What will be the %26#39;dress code%26#39; for most ladies during that period?

I%26#39;m thinking of denim skirts or shorts with boots. Or should I stick to heels?

Would it be funny to wear trench coats there?

Hmmm, might not be that much cooler than in Singapore. Weather has varied a lot for the past few years, so don%26#39;t expect anyone to give you a good idea of what you could really wear during that time.

However I suspect trenchcoats might be too warm during that time.

High heels aren%26#39;t a good idea if you plan to be walking around quite a lot. Some of the pavements are very ';potholey';.

Shanghai in May will still be much cooler than Singapore.Singapore whether is always 24 to 36 celcius yearlong.It will probably be cooler still in Shanghai in may.but u do nopt need trenchcoat.Denim skirts /shorts with boots r ok n as ellyse pointed out if u r planning to walk a lot heels r not advisable though i had occasionally seen people struggling awkwardly on heels.Awkward to me but they seem to be pretty comfortable lol.,maybe fashion sense has numbed all other senses!Still its yr choice if u have formalfunctions to attend it is of course alright.but certainly not if u plan to do a tour or go shopping.

what about end April and early May?

Hi end April n early may the weather will still be cool n probably with good sunlight.if expected should linger around 18 to 24 celcius.Its only a projection,n its still a good time to travel to Shanghai becos of its ideal weather conditions to most asians esp.from SEA.

Anyway, since i%26#39;ll be doing a lot of walking, i guess boots and heels are out. Are Birkis popular there? It will be so much more comfy.

Hi light trench coats r ok but actually it wont be too cold by then.As for Birkis i guess Ellyse can help u out on that,i dont even know what it is.SOS for ellyse..Also i will say that in Shanghai what u wear it is never funny n wont appear as weirdos as there r varieties n myriad of fashions,guess the shanghainese r so adapting n accomodating as far as what u wear or do.,they r so broadminded.......No one will frown or laugh ok.

Birkenstock sandals. Yes, those are fine and so are Crocs.
