Looking For Budget Stay At Hong Kong Island

Hi, 2 of my lady friends going to Hong Kong on May. They are prefer to stay at Hong Kong Island near Causeway Bay, Wan Chai or North Point. Budget around HKD 300 with wash room inside.

1) Anyone have experience staying at YesInn arond North Point? Is it safety for lady traveller?

2) Have anyone stay at Asia Hostel at Causeway Bay? Would it be safer for lady traveller?

Looking For Budget Stay At Hong Kong Island

Here is a post that I have give to several people so far who have inquired about budget accomodation. This list includes both places in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. The first part of the list is for hostels/guesthouses. The second part of the list is for budget hotels.

There are a few places on the list that are in Causewway Bay, Wan Chai, and North Point. For around HKD300 you will probably only be able to get a hostel/guesthouse room. But yes, for that price, you can get private rooms with private bathrooms.

1) I haven%26#39;t stayed in Yes Inn.

2) I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Asia Hostel either.

As far as safety, Hong Kong is generally very safe, even at night. But, of course, use your best judgement. Avoid situations that you normally would associate as having a high potential for danger.

Here are some hostel/guesthouse ideas, most of which I have heard good reviews about and/or stayed at before. You will also want to look in the Hong Kong Hotels and Accomodations section of TripAdvisor (look on your upper left hand side for the link). When at that page, click on the tabs (at the top of the page) for B%26amp;B%26#39;s/Inns and Specialty Lodging for reviews of hostels/guesthouses.

There are also some hotels that are not as expensive as you may think and can be of decent quality. You can take a look at the following. Prices can vary greatly though, depending on when you are staying. For prices, take a look at the hotels%26#39; website for prices as well as discount hotel websites such as www.hotelclub.com, www.asiatravel.com, www.asiarooms.com, www.agoda.com, www.booking.com, etc. Note that if you look at prices on a discount hotel website, make sure you find out if the price listed is inclusive of all taxes and fees or not. There is a total of 13% taxes and fees for most hotel rooms in Hong Kong. Some of the discount hotel websites will tell you in the beginning that their prices are inclusive of these taxes and fees - but many will not present these additional taxes and fees to you until you are in the booking process (or have completed booking). So keep that in mind:

Looking For Budget Stay At Hong Kong Island

Anyqeustion, thanks you for your advise. Really appreciated of the enlighten of how to explore Hong Kong B%26amp;B and GuestHouse Tripadvisor function. I%26#39;m only surf using google for budget hostel and GuestHouse. Did you stay at Alison GuestHouse at Causeway Bay? Is it clean and convenient to stay?

Hi

We%26#39;ve been to HK many times and have stayed a few times at The Newton Hotel at North Point. This is one of the cheaper hotels but really nice. The MTR, trams and buses are just a very short walk away. The rooms are small but spotless and there is a roof top pool.

Regards

No, I did not stay that Alisan Guesthouse before, but I do have a friend who stayed there before and they liked it. Also, from what I have read on the internet, it seems to be clean as well. The other good thing is that the location is very good and close to the Causeway Bay MTR station. Also, the owner/management there seems to do business very honestly and normally. What I mean is that, often you will find that if you book at many hostel/guesthouses, once you arrive there, the owner has lost your reservation or has switched or adjusted it. For example, you reserved a single room but when you arrive at the hostel/gueshouse they say they only have double rooms available or that they are fully booked and offer to place you in a room at a nearby hostel/guesthouse. From what I have heard so far about Alisan guesthouse, they don%26#39;t play these games.

Thanks for all the comment of staying budget in Hong Kong Island. When I read thru B%26amp;Bs / Inn and Specialty Lodging. Alison Guest House seem to be having high reputation compare to other. Let my friend to decide.
