Beijing , a wonderful city, u just have to be careful

Beijing is a wonderful city, a mix of heritage with a dash of modernity. restaurants are wonderfully pleasant, don%26#39;t forget the peking duck. da dong kaoya dian is tops for me. makiayme is also a great place to dine, tibetan food without going to tibet, probably will be difficult to secure a travel permit there anyway these days, lol. order the yak meat and yak cheese very very exotic even my kids love it.

went to beijing with my family without a tour guide, anyway am a mandarin speaker though not the best. still was very wary of tea ceremonies and whatever ceremonies that come my way having read abt all the possible scams. but still fell for 1, where we were brought to a temple near ming tombs, we vehemently protested though and were duped of 600 rmb, because my kids already lighted joss stick for blessing and in orientals when a joss is lighted u have to pray to whichever deity the temple was dedicated too. taxi driver was apolegetic after that, funny we would laugh abt that experience with my wife everytime we reminisce abt this particular episode.

well guys, if ever u were brought to places not in your itinerary just dont go in. cheers

After a while, you will find a taxi driver who will be driven solely by commissions, kickbacks or scams, and try to dump you off somewhere.

Happened to me in Yunnan, and we simply did not get out of the taxi and said no. After a minute or two of sitting there, the driver got the message.

I can%26#39;t figure out why anyone got out of TimemasterSingapore%26#39;s vehicle.

Sorry to say, sounds like a typical Singaporean. Nuff said.
