How strict are Immigration at Airport

My Girlfriend is travelling to HK from the Philippines on her own. I am flying to HK from the UK the day before. How strict are the immigration people with regard to her carrying sufficient funds to cover her stay and Hotel voucher etc. I%26#39;ve booked everything and I%26#39;m concerned they may think she%26#39;s looking to stay in HK looking for work etc and won%26#39;t let her in!

Whilst I%26#39;m waiting in arrivala unaware of any problems.

I wouldn%26#39;t worry about it at all. I come to and from China passing through Hong Kong all the time. Sometimes up to 11 times a year. (yes almost every month). I%26#39;ve never been stopped or questioned, let alone about money. They randomly select people for baggage inspection in HKIA as you exit the nothing to declare aisle.

Really though, don%26#39;t give it a second thought. You won%26#39;t find a more pleasing airport or staff anywhere in the world.

Coming in on a Philippines passport is a little different, but really she should have no problems. She must make sure she has her return ticket (eticket/receipt) and details of the accommodation (some sort of confirmation either from the hotel or an email from you would help if there are any questions). These are things that you should/must have when you fly into any country though.

While I haven%26#39;t personally heard of someone from the Philippines rejected, I am sure it has happened.

Enjoy.

the immigrations just looked at my face and the pic on the passport. stamped it and i was on my way to HK.

it is different for women from south east asia who are always being suspected of entering hong kong for other reasons than tourism. wink wink.

as long as she has all copies of supporting documents incl letter from you that you will be supporting her stay etc etc. she will be fine. it will also be good if she brings a letter from her company to vouch that she is working in manila, or if not her company id if any.

also it is a good rule of thumb and i mean no offense to anyone, that she dress decently ( no heavy makeup, no revealing clothes etc).

I personally know and hear single, female or male, traveller from the Philippines being rejected at the immigration of HK. They CAN ask a lot of questions, or none at all. It depends who you get at the immigration, and who you are.

They are yes... suspecting that this person will come and try to find a job in HK on a tourist visa.

Because, the fact is, many many do exactly that.

Your gf will definitely need a proof of the return ticket, where she is going to stay, and whether she has the financial support to be able to stay in HK for that many days, and why she is here in HK.

If the immigration officer finds her believable, she will be fine.
