need help in determining our China itinerary

We arrive in Hong Kong on July 30th and have until August 16 when we must be in Beijing for 9 daysfor the Olympic Games.......can anyone give us some suggesstions on how to see the most of China%26#39;s Best prior to the games?

The best first step is to figure out what you might like to see, then prioritize the places. Since everyone has different tastes and preferences, I suggest you buy a touring guide such as the DK Eyewitness Guide to China and look at the many wonders of China. Pick just four or five places to avoid spending your entire trip packing, unpacking and in airport waiting areas.

You have a nice amount of time at the peak of summer. I might suggest some cooler places, such as areas of Yunnan Province and Yangshuo. Beijing and Shanghai can be insufferable in August, especially by Miami Beach standards. You will not find cooling breezes in the cities, just blast of oven-heated air.
