I am planning a trip this summer and would like to travel from Hong Kong to Beijing to Bangkok and back to Hong Kong. Any suggestions on the best/cheapest route?

We are planning about a six week trip. We do not plan on spending much time in Hong Kong because we have been there before. It it a connecting point on our trip. We would like to see the Great Wall in Beijing and spend a few days there. The bulk of our trip will be spent touring Thailand.

Remember the Olympics in China this year. This will lead to an increase in costs, and also more strain on transport. If you are American, recent reports say that you won%26#39;t have any visa problems though if you apply in US.

If you fly HK / Shenzhen to Beijing (cheaper from Shenzhen), you could then head towards Xi%26#39;an, Chengdu and Kunming - then around Dali, before continuing through northern Laos (Luang Prabang) and into Thailand - Chiang Mai.

And Bangkok back to Hong Kong - fly using AirAsia to Macau.
