Double entry visa

I just found out today, from my travel agent, that I might have difficulty getting a double entry visa. It is to do with the Olympics. That doesn%26#39;t make much sense to me. Why would they be making it more difficult to travel??? Does anyone know anything about this? My travel agent is doing some research and I won%26#39;t know until the end of the week. We are leaving on our trip April 22 and I am now anxious....

Any help or information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Colleen

Double entry visa

Yes you might have difficulty. Yes, it is to do with the Olympics (although I don%26#39;t think it has been officially said). I think you should still be able to get a double entry - in your itinerary show that you intend to leave China (to Hong Kong for example) and then re-enter. Each entry may be limited to 30days.

Good luck.

Double entry visa

Thanks for the quick answer.

In my application is just said to list the cities I will be visiting and the order. It didn%26#39;t ask how long in each city.

hazenumber1 - would appreciate your posting the outcome of your visa application to share. Thanks.

So,in you application, put for example:

Beijing

Shanghai

Hong Kong

Macau

Guilin

Xi%26#39;an

Beijing

This way you need to leave China and then re-enter. Therefore, hopefully you should get a double entry.

The actual cities you put down don%26#39;t matter much - just stick to the major tourist ones.

Thanks,

I had put:

1.) Shenzhen

2.) Hong Kong

3.) Beijing

4.) Xian

5.) Guilin

6.) Shanghai

And I put the number beside, as above. So that would require a double entry.

I will let you all know this week, how I make out.

%26gt;%26gt;Why would they be making it more difficult to travel???

Because they are overworked with visa applications, and the tourism infrastructure probably can%26#39;t handle the huge influx of tourists.

Surely by restricting multi and double entry visas, they will be increasing the workload of visa offices!

What...the plan is to discourage tourism???? That makes alot of sense. Then again, I have had to deal with alot, doing business in China, that really doesn%26#39;t make alot of sense....

Personally I am disappointed with the Chinese government for implementing this new practice. I appreciate that it is at their sole discretion but it%26#39;s nothing more than gouging more money from bona fide visitors in reality. For those who use an intermediary, it also means ';greater profit sharing'; opportunities amongst interested parties. Capitalists at their best.

Well, China has beaten the capitalist countries at their own game.
