best city to fly from

Hi

I was wondering the best way to fly from New YOrk in the US ?

Would it be best to fly via los angeles, or through europe ?

Sorry , but I never have been to China and do not know much about traveling there.

What is the ';best way'; to you? The cheapest? The fastest, generally nonstop or direct? Or a quality air carrier?

As for the first, check bookingbuddy.com or kayak.com to get an overview of fares and carriers. As for nonstops from JFK/Newark, you have just a few. When combining fastest and high quality, there is Cathay Pacific, by far the finest air carrier to China, connecting through Hong Kong.

Carriers to avoid? China Air (Taiwan) not to be confused with Air China, based in Beijing. China Air%26#39;s safety record is poor.

Since you do not know much about traveling there, let me suggest my favorite guide to sort out the hundreds of exciting things to do: DK Eyewitness Guide to China. You probably have used them in Europe. Also recommended are Lonely Planet, a 1000-plus-page encyclopedia, and the most recent Frommers. Looking through the guides and photos and planning the trip are exciting to me. You can do very well on your own, without a group tour, as long as you are an experienced international traveler.
