I heard from a friend that most of the domestic airlines in China only allow 1 piece of luggage each. Can anyone tell me if that is true?

Never mind....I followed Ellyse%26#39;s advice and just did a search...
Ellyse....I got it...haha
Baggage on airlines
Recently they have become very strict and limit things like the amount of liquids and sharp implements. Laptops also have to be turned on when you go through security checks. I think there is a limit on size and number as well.
haze: Well done then, kudos to you! :)
For domestic flights it is 1 piece of checked-in luggage max 20kg. If you exceed that, 50% of the time they will charge you for excess luggage (the other 50% the clerk does not notice and does not speak enough english to explain the charge to you so she just ignores the problem)
For carry-on they enforce the no-liquid rule (at least at the major airports like Beijing but not everywhere). You may sometimes be asked to take out your laptop but I was never asked to turn it on. There seems to be no limit on carry-on luggage. Some people have so much carry-on that they need a trolley.
I contacted my travel agent and they insist that when I show my international airline ticket that they will treat me as an international traveler and I will be able to have 2 pieces of baggage.
She is very insistant that is the case....
Your travel agent is wrong. If you are changing planes in Beijing, Hong Kong or Shanghai airports for a through (continuing) itinerary, that may be the case. But for air travel from city to city inside China the rule is one piece, period. It is also supposed to be 20kg max, but they seem to be forgetting about that recently.
Yes, SoBeSparky is right on spot as usual.
Last trip out of XNN two of us travelling together were able to check in 3 pieces of luggage between us, no problems. At security, my hand cream and deodorant were opened up and sniffed at, but the scissors in the hand luggage went through with no problem. Go figure.
But if you have more than one piece of check-in baggage, just make it an extra piece of carry-on ... if you are capable of carrying on board, you will almost certainly be allowed to do so as long as it can be manouvered down the aisle.
