Tailored Made Suits and Shirts

I will be visiting Beijing Mid-March. Can anyone recommend a place to go for tailored made suites and/or shirts?

Tailored Made Suits and Shirts

On 3rd floor of Ya show market(near Sanlitun)have few good tailors, they can finish suite in one day.It is better you come back on second day to try.But they are efficient and good tailors

You need to bargaining, tell them you work in Beijing. Some friend recommend you to there. Will get good price

How much approx would it cost to get a good suit made in one of these places?

I don%26#39;t know about suits, but Alice Tailor on th 3rd floor of Yaxiu tailors shirts for 100RMB. That%26#39;s about US$14? They are pretty fast too.

On the 3rd floor of Ya Xiu (the one facing the staircase) I had a few suits made there and was happy. I had my suits made with 3 pairs of pants (less jackets to bring when you travel and pants always wear out more quickly than jackets). They can take your measurements or bring your favorite suit and they will copy it. You will need less fittings. The first time they took my measurements and I went back for 2 fittings. After they copied a suit and it was ready the next day.

For a suit with 3 pants (4 pieces) I negotiated 1400 or 1500RMB for a high quality fabric. When you negotiate, offer 1400. Tell them a friend paid this. They will argue you picked a more expensive fabric. Just stick to your price and at the end go up to 1500RMB (about $200)

I was happy with the results.

I never bothered with shirts as you can buy some really nice ones for 40RMB (about $5). First buy one to check size, etc... In the end I bought about 30 shirts for the price of one back home.

I tried to get a dress made at the Silk Market, but it was going to cost about the same as at home, so I didn%26#39;t bother. I even tried bargaining, but no, the price they quoted was what they wanted. I bargained quite well on all the other stuff at the Silk Market, but not with the tailors.

I assumed this was because it was a tourist shop, so the prices were set high?

Find a local friend , ask him or her to lead you there ,you could get a good price ,but different price different skills, yaxiu is a good choice but i also prefer the tailor from the silk market, i just think foreign friends come to china should enjoy the best service, and that is the real standard of chinese tailor

Having shopped many times and bringing friends there, I find that the Silk Market and Ya Xiu have the same merchandise, the prices after negotiations are the same. The main difference is that at the Silk Market the sales clerks are more annoying.

I used a tailor at Daxin (opposite Dongsi subway station) recently to make a tuxedo. I paid 1000RMB (includes fabric) and was very happy. They have a great range of fabrics and tailors. Less ';in your face'; than yaxiu and the silk market.

Thanks for the info lads.
