sightseeing

Hi Animagus. You%26#39;ll be happy to know Macau is much smaller even than Singapore, so very easy to get around.

What kind of things interest you - historical areas, casinos, bargain or high-end shopping, good food?

The first thing to remember is to pick up the bilingual map from the tourist office at the airport (it%26#39;s free, as are all the other brochures and booklets there) - that way you can show where you want to go to a taxi driver, as very few of them speak any English.

How much luggage will you be carrying? If there are check-in bags, it might be easiest first to go to the ferry terminal and deposit them in one or more of the coin lockers there before doing your sightseeing. On weekdays, I think the last ferry from Macau to China Ferry Terminal is 9 or 10 pm; on weekdays they run 24 hours. As Hong Kong is a very safe place to travel, even at night, you could come back even later to Macau Ferry Terminal on HK island as ferries run there from Macau 24 hours a day, then catch MTR, bus or taxi over to Kowloon side.

The most famous site in Macau is the ruins of St Paul%26#39;s cathedral, which is at the end of a pedestrian zone running up from Senado Square. You can check out this and more tourist attractions on cn.macautourism.gov.mo
