mongkok hotel/ good deal and safety

I%26#39;d like to book the langham place in mongkok. There is a choice of a variety of rooms at a special rate. There is the residence suite and the langham suite both at 11070 HK dollars for 4 nights including breakfast. Does anyone know if these rooms are on a higher floor. I%26#39;ve also looked at the Club L rooms which start at the 35th floor and are going for 1170 for four days. Does anyone know which is a better deal and most important which type of room would provide the best view. One last question, is this a safe area and are the night markets, shops and transport easily accessible. We are HK first timers and would appreciate any advice, thank you all.

Langham Place used to be the centre of an old residential area and red light district. But it has been successfully converted into a nice shopping mall, a hotel and a commerical building.

The hotel building itself is relatively tall when compare to other buildings as it used to have a height restriction when the old airport was around. At the price you pay I guess you will get a high floor and hence a good view. It can even be a harbour view if at the right direction. Perhaps you can confirm with the hotel to ensure that you have a good view.

The management of the hotel is quite good. It has a few nice restaurants and in particular I like the cool bar there!

Since it is in Mongkok, which in Chinese means the Crowded Point, you can imagine there are lots of shops, eateries around. The hotel is also connected by an underpath connecting to the underground train station. It is very easily accessible to all parts of Hong Kong.

In general Hong Kong is very safe, Mongkok included. Of course the common sense still applies -don%26#39;t get into the dark areas alone, be aware of pick pockets etc.

Have an enjoyable stay in Hong Kong!

Thank you for your reply, appreciate the help.

hi henry- we stayed at Langham Place a four week%26#39;s ago and it was 100% brilliant- the staff are wonderful, the rooms lovely, the attached shopping mall excellent for both shopping and eating and the surrounding streets are exciting and fun.

I think we stayed on the 19th Floor and the view was really good

If you stay in a suite or club room you will be at least 35 floors up.

However harbour view is restricted as this is mongkok.

Best view is from the roof top pool.

I have stayed here and love the hotel %26gt; I will be staying there again in august.

Re suite and club room obviously with former you get an extra living space. Depends how important space is for you . I have stayed in Club room and it was a nice size ( saying that i have booked a suite for august as a treat).

The area is totally safe and more authentic IMO than other more touristy areas.

How did you find the area for getting to and from the night markets. Was walking at night around the area OK, thanks.

Hi Guys

I travelled to Hong Kong on my own on my first trip(female 40+), then with my 80 year old mother and felt perfectly safe in the area. Night markets (Ladies) are very close and the only risk is that you will spend too much money.

Do the Club package (suites or Executive room) they are really really worth it! We had a great view from our Club Exec room, and could even see the harbour!

Oh yeah, and I am going back to Langham Place for my third visit in 18 months this May! Yay!

I%26#39;ve just booked the langham suite, I%26#39;m so excited, been to other parts of China but not Hong Kong, thanks for the advice, you%26#39;re all great and I made my decision on all your good advice, thanks again.
