Travelling From Macau International Aiport to Zhuhai, China

I will be travelling to Zhuhai, China via Macau International Airport in mid Sept 2007. What are the options on the mode of transport there? (Taxi, Bus and Etc) I also have the option to go to Guangzhou directly from the airport. How should I travel in this case? Is there a certain operation hours for the Immigration Complex?

Hi Jardine,

There are two ways to travel from Macau airport to the Zhuhai border crossing. The slow, cheap way is to catch the AP1 bus (MOP / HK$3.30 +3.00 for each piece of luggage over carry-on size). This bus goes from the airport right to the border gate terminus, and takes from 45 - 90 minutes depending on traffic. A taxi can make the same run in less than 20 minutes, cost about MOP60. The border crossing is made on foot - even if you hire a limousine with dual registration plates, passengers are required to disembark to go through immigration. The checkpoint is open 7:30am - midnight.

To travel to Guangzhou you have the option of taking a ferry from Macau Inner harbour, or a bus from Zhuhai - it depends which part of that huge city you want to get to.

Thank you so much, Oisaan.

I guess taking the ferry from Macau to Guangzhou will be the slower option, right? There are also express buses plying this routes on quite a regular basis. Are the bus tickets easily available or should I book ahead?

It%26#39;s true that buses are normally the quicker option (exception being if there%26#39;s a major pile-up on the tollway, but unfortunately that can%26#39;t be predicted). There are express buses from Zhuhai serving many areas in Guangzhou. The easiest to catch are those run by the Kee Kwan company: after exiting Chinese immigration, follow the crowd down the escalator to the underground shopping mall, then veer left and go down the next escalator too - the booking office / waiting hall is just on the right. English - spoken or signage - is in short supply here, so have someone write down in Chinese the area in Guangzhou City you need to reach, and just show it to the ticket seller. Buses for the most common destinations run as often as every 20 minutes, so you don%26#39;t need to book ahead, fare is RMB 85 - 90, depending on destination.

Oh yes, don%26#39;t forget your Visa. I made a mistake of taking it too lightly and am suffering with regrets right now looking for help from everywhere.

Get the visa at least 2 weeks in advance from 1st Floor of Plaza OSK, Jalan Ampang.

Malaysia passport needs to apply for visa to travel in Macau and Zhuhai and ShenZhen?

I%26#39;m not sure about Macau, but certainly yes for Shenzhen and Zhuhai.

Can I apply China Visa only when I reach Zhuhai immigration?

Celine, if you have a Singaporean passport you won%26#39;t need a visa for up to 2 weeks stay on China mainland. If you have Malaysian or other passport (except USA) you have the choice of applying in a PRC embassy or consulate overseas, or at a travel agent in Macau (24 - 72 hours in advance; the faster you want it the more expensive it is), or at the border crossing.

Can the Visa be done immediately at the border crossing (from Macau to Zhuhai)?

AFAIK the VoA at Gong Bei border crossing is valid for 72 hours in Zhuhai only. You cannot travel to Guangzhou or Shenzhen with this visa.
