can any one tell me if you need to book ferry to macau in advance on weekends also if so how etc, or would we be safe to just turn up around 8.00am and purchase ticket on spot we are only in HK for 5 days and would like to visit

Go to the ferry terminal when you arrive in Hong Kong and buy the tickets for the times you want to travel.

If you want to leave at the exact time, it%26#39;s better to buy your ticket in advance. If you buy on the day itself, you may have to wait for the next available ferry. I reached the terminal at 9.45am but only managed to get the 11.35am ferry ticket.

Or, even better, try to alter your itinerary to ';do'; Macau on a weekday - the difference in crowds between weekends and weekdays is much less obvious in HK than in Macau, and you can normally buy tickets for the next boat to leave in either direction.
