Lijiang -- Panzhihua bus, Panzhihua accommodation

1) How long does the Lijiang -- Panzhihua bus take, in particular the evening departure? What time would it arrive in Panzhihua... in the middle of the night, in the wee morning hours or at daybreak?

2) If anyone has gone by this route recently, what time is the latest departure from Lijiang?

3) Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences for Panzhihua accommodation? Looking for clean and safe triple room near train station, max budget 300 RMB, though not hoping to spend all of that!

Have done a complete search for ';Panzhihua'; on the forum, nothing that could answer those questions! :( Thanks in advance for any replies.

Lijiang -- Panzhihua bus, Panzhihua accommodation

Hi ellyse,

Probably you are the most active person in this forum. So if you ask a question its difficult for you to get the answers. But I have the same question.

How do we go from panzhihua to Lijiang? How many hours by bus? Should we do Lugu Lake or Shangri-La in between or reach Lijiang first and then go to Lugu lake or Shangri-La?

How is the road between Panzhihua and Lijiang?

Thanks a lot

A couple of threads on the Lonely Planet ThornTree forum which might be of some use to you:

The overnight sleeper bus apparently arrives in Panzhihua around 0400 but you could sleep on the bus till around 0600. If you read Chinese, there%26#39;s some information about Lijiang%26#39;s long-distance buses at: www.laoshay.com/info/info/info-1/bus.html

It%26#39;s also possible to go to the Sichuan side of Lugu Lake from Panzhihua by bus, circumnavigate the lake then go by bus (perhaps via Ninglang) to Lijiang. Not possible to include Shangri-La in a similar manner though.

Thanks a lot...u seriously know so much....u shud start ur own travel company.

Heh thanks for the compliments. It%26#39;s amazing what simple searching in Chinese will get you, actually.

I wish TripAdvisor would consider paying me, though...!
