Transfer from Airport to Hotel

I need some help on getting to my hotel from the airport. I am arriving at the Beijing Capital Airport and my hotel is the Holiday Inn-Downtown Beijing. Located in 98 Belishilu Financial Street, Xichengqu. What are my options for transfering to hotel? Would you also know if taxi drivers speak English? Thanks

If you%26#39;re taking a taxi, print out those Chinese characters and show them to the taxi driver. Don%26#39;t expect taxi drivers to know English besides perhaps the basic ';hello'; and such. If anyone had a working knowledge of English they wouldn%26#39;t be stuck working as a taxi driver!

What time do you arrive at Beijing airport? How many of you and how much luggage do you have?

Your hotel is very close to Fuchengmen metro stop on line 2 (circle line), nearest exit is exit A.

If you have very little luggage and are not travelling during peak hours, and want to save money, you might want to take airport shuttle no.2 to Xidan (final terminus) for 16 RMB/pax, then metro line 1 for 1 stop west from Xidan to Fuxingmen, change to metro line 2 for 1 stop north from Fuxingmen to Fuchengmen. Grand total of 18 RMB from the airport to your hotel!

Otherwise, after taking the airport shuttle to Xidan, take a taxi for the remaining 4+ km to your hotel. Reckon on about 15-20 RMB for the ride depending on traffic conditions.

The taxi will cost you a little over 100RMB. Go to the hotel website, find the page with the address nad maybe a map and then change language to chinese. Print that page. On that page you probably also have the phone number. I found that several taxi drivers don%26#39;t know the Financial street area so they call the hotel for directions.

Thanks ellyse and JPdem! Unfortunately the hotel doesn%26#39;t have the map in chinese directions. Are there any websites you can recommend that have maps in chinese?

Ellyse,

If I would just say ';Fuchengmen Ave'; will the driver understand me?

Did you see the Chinese characters for the name and address of the hotel, which I provided above? Please answer yes, or no!

No, I doubt the driver would understand you if you said ';Fuchengmen Ave';, especially in English!

There IS a map of sorts on the hotel website but it doesn%26#39;t look very useful to me: ichotelsgroup.com/h/…pegdt

It might be more useful to plug in 北京金都假日饭店 to http://ditu.google.com and print out the result.

Thanks so much!! This was very helpful.

Really? Thanks for the advice. I%26#39;m actually only staying here for a business summit and plan to move to another hotel thereafter.

What hotel would you recommend for an ideal location and for a budget of 800 - 1200 RMB?

Also if you were to suggest top 3 must-do%26#39;s for a one-day itinerary what would that be?

Thanks again

I presume your reply was meant for your other post at tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g303764-i2316-k188… ? Please confirm if yes or no.
